Student Voices

Course Title
Student Voices: Inclusion, Dialogue, and Engagement on Campus
Course Description of Student-Led Course
This course explores how students can actively contribute to making university campuses more inclusive, participatory, and welcoming environments. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining communication studies, social sciences, social psychology, political science, and education, it encourages students to reflect on issues such as participation, belonging, diversity, and engagement. By examining their own university experiences, students identify barriers and opportunities for involvement, while developing a critical understanding of campus life and the role of dialogue in fostering inclusion. The collaborative production of podcasts allows them to combine personal reflections, interviews, and analysis, strengthening both their theoretical knowledge and practical communication skills.
The course contributes to the BAUHAUS4EU vision by promoting a more inclusive, student-centred, and participatory campus environment. It fosters social cohesion by encouraging the expression of diverse perspectives and by supporting the development of concrete ideas and recommendations to improve campus life. By combining participation, creativity, and collective reflection, it aligns with the New European Bauhaus principles, while also leaving space to address sustainability-related issues when they arise from students’ experiences.
Its interdisciplinary nature is reflected both in its content and its audience. By bringing together multiple disciplines and students from diverse academic backgrounds, the course encourages the exchange of perspectives and collaborative learning. This approach supports the co-construction of knowledge and solutions, equipping students with analytical, communicative, and teamwork skills, and empowering them to become active contributors to a more inclusive, connected, and evolving university campus.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to analyse issues related to inclusion, participation, and sense of belonging within university environments, while critically reflecting on their own experiences to identify barriers and opportunities for engagement. They will develop the ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams and design a collective project, notably through the creation of a podcast combining interviews, dialogue, and analysis. This will strengthen their communication, critical thinking, and project management skills, as well as their ability to formulate concrete recommendations for a more inclusive and participatory campus.
The learning outcomes align with the New European Bauhaus principles of inclusion, participation, and collective transformation, by promoting a student-centred and democratic approach to campus life. The course also contributes to key Sustainable Development Goals, particularly quality education, reduced inequalities, and student well-being. Based on a project-based, participatory, and collaborative methodology, it combines theoretical input, interactive activities, and practical production, fostering interdisciplinary learning and the development of transversal skills such as teamwork, active listening, and problem-solving, while empowering students to actively contribute to campus transformation.
