B4EU-Course FAQ

Welcome to Our Course Catalogue – FAQ

Thank you for your interest in our very first course catalogue! We are excited to launch this initial round of offerings and begin this journey with you. This is just the beginning — more courses will be published in December, in preparation for the new year.

Please note that this is not our final platform.  We are currently developing enhanced features to streamline the user experience, including more efficient registration processes and improved accessibility.

In the meantime, we have gathered answers to some common questions below to help guide you through this first release. If you don’t find what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

GENERAL

Which courses do we offer?

We offer two different types of courses.

Degree Programme Courses:

These courses are part of regular academic programmes, such as electives or specialisations. They are open to enrolled students within the alliance. These courses provide access to an expanded and diverse course portfolio

Short Training Courses
These courses focus on personal development and future skills. Key topics include digital competencies, intercultural communication, leadership, and entrepreneurship. They can be made available to all target groups within the alliance, including students, teachers and staff.

From which universities can I take courses?

Currently, most of our BAUHAUS4EU universities offer courses, and our course catalogue is continuously being updated. You can find our member universities here: BAUHAUS4EU Member Universities

What does mobility refer to?

Mobility means temporarily moving to a different institution than your own in order to participate in (academic) activities like a course, workshop, or job shadowing.

When a format is described as on Campus, participants have to physically move to the institution offering the activity.

Virtual mobility refers to the use of digital technologies that allow students, researchers, and staff to participate in activities at a partner university in the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance without physical travel. This usually means joining online.

With hybrid formats, both is possible – you can either join virtually or physically on  your home-campus.

The term blended refers to the combination of traditional in-person instruction (at a shared physical location) with phases of online learning.
The Blended Intensive Format (BIP) is a short-term physical mobility combined with a virtual component that usually serves to prepare before and/or discuss the contents after the physical mobility.

Who can apply?

Students (Bachelor, Master, PhD), academic staff, and administrative staff from any of the BAUHAUS4EU member universities are eligible to take apply for the courses. Please see the course description for relevant target groups or filter courses according to your target group.

What level of English do I need?

The recommended general level of English is B2 according to the CEFR. If a higher level is required, check the course description for details.

Is there a cost for participating?

Virtual mobility opportunities offered through BAUHAUS4EU are free of charge for students and staff of the partner universities.

Who can I contact for support or more information?

Each university in the alliance has a designated BAUHAUS4EU contact person or coordinator. Find them here: Go to contact page.

BEFORE THE COURSE

Do I receive credits (ECTS) for participating?

Yes, in many cases credit recognition may apply. Virtual courses can be accredited with ECTS points if they are part of a recognised academic programme. Please see the description of the course you are interested in. Your institutional coordinator will inform your about how to proceed. In the Download Area you find a Learning Agreement which you can use for this purpose. Depending on your university’s structure, you will need to get it signed by your dean, academic advisor or head of study programme.

How do I apply for a course?

Please follow the registration instructions provided in the respective course description. The registration process may vary depending on the course (e.g. email registration, platform sign-up). You must use your official university email address assigned to you by your university.

Registrations from private email accounts will not be accepted.

How will I know if I have been accepted?

The course coordinators notify the participants by email after the end of the selection process. Seats are limited and allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. Selection also depends on meeting the prerequisites, which are listed in the course description.

Does the academic regulation of my home university apply during the program?

During the course, you will follow the host university’s rules. At the first class, academic teachers will explain the main points, such as grading, absences, and course assessments, including deadlines.

Am I allowed to register for more than one course?

Yes! You can register for as many courses as you want, but before you do, make sure to think about possible schedule clashes and how much work you will have during the exam period.

What technical requirements do I need to participate?

A reliable internet connection, a computer/laptop, and access to standard video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams, Moodle) are essential. Some activities may require specific software, which will be communicated in advance by the teacher.

AFTER THE COURSE

Can virtual mobility lead to physical mobility later?

Yes. Many virtual exchanges are part of blended mobility schemes, where initial collaboration takes place online and is followed by short-term physical mobility (e.g. Blended Intensive Programmes). Check with your International Office for available mobility grants.

Will I receive a certificate for completing the course?

Yes! A certificate/Transcript of Record will be provided to you once you have completed the course. Among other information, it will include the Learning Outcomes, as well as any ECTS credits awarded for the course (if applicable).

What grading scale or final mark will be used upon completion of the programme?

You will be graded according to the system of the university that offers the course, but your final marks will be converted to your home university’s grading scale afterwards.

What if I have failed a course?

If you fail a course it is up to the regulations of the host-institution to decide if you can retake the exam. Please contact the host-institution contact person or the teacher in this case. If you pass the course, you may be able to have it accredited at your home institution. If not, no record of failure will appear on the transcript.
