During the four-day event, doctoral students, divided into four teams of five members, worked on selected research topics, seeking creative and innovative solutions. The Hackathon provided a space for interdisciplinary collaboration, the exchange of experiences, and the development of skills in an international and multicultural academic environment.
The teams’ work was presented to a jury board, which selected the winning team. The results were officially announced during the Gala Dinner on July 9, 2026. A symbolic check for PLN 5,000.00 was presented by the Vice-Rector for Science and Academic Staff Development, prof. dr hab. Maciej Nowak.
The winning team members included:
· Szymon Caban, University of Economics in Katowice;
· Karol Para, University of Economics in Katowice;
· Seila Muhic, Università degli Studi di Bergamo;
· Jinia Sharmeen, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar;
· Huseyn Guliyev, University of Economics in Katowice.

During their stay in Katowice, participants also had the opportunity to get to know the city and the region better and take part in team-building activities. For the doctoral students, it was a time of intensive work, but also of inspiring conversations, building relationships, and discovering the value of collaboration in an international environment.
Participants gave very positive feedback on the event, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, diverse perspectives, and the opportunity to develop research ideas jointly. We hope that the connections made, the skills acquired, and the solutions developed will inspire further joint research initiatives within the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance.
The event was part of the project "UEKat in BAUHAUS4EU – developing the University’s potential for a European University for sustainable, resilient, and inclusive regions," financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the "Support for European Universities" program, with a total budget of PLN 967,602.00.
