Featuring a hands-on exhibition, a short film screening, participatory theatre and the ‘Weimar City Dialogue’, the series brings creative inspiration from Francophone cultures to Weimar and explores current issues relating to urban society, culture and coexistence.
The focus is on shifting perspectives on urban spaces and social interaction: international examples from France, Belgium, Cameroon and Canada showcase approaches to participatory urban development, temporary use of spaces, and innovative concepts from architecture, urban planning and the arts. The series aims to link these perspectives with local issues and provide fresh impetus for the urban discourse in Weimar.
The series kicks off on Thursday 15 May at 6 pm with the opening of the participatory exhibition at Atrium Weimar (ground floor, next to Saturn). On display will be models and projects from Belgium, France, Cameroon and Canada.
On Friday 16 May, ‘PERSKEPTIVEN’ will form part of the ‘Long Night of Museums’ in Weimar. At the Museum Neues Weimar, the ‘Forum Theatre’ will be performed at 7 pm, 8 pm, 9 pm and 10 pm.
To round off the series, the event ‘Third Places and Temporary Use – What Ideas for the Sendehalle and the Volkshaus?’ will take place on Sunday 17 May at 6 pm in the Atrium’s cinema. Following a screening of short films by students, the ‘Weimarer Stadtgespräch’ invites participants to a discussion on urban open spaces and cultural usage concepts.
The programme was developed under the direction of Hélène Dal Farra, Sprachenzentrum | Centre for Language and Cultural Learning, in collaboration with students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance universities, Université Lumière Lyon 2 and Université de Picardie Jules Verne. Also taking part is the Belgian architect and biomimeticist Luc Schuiten.
