Strategic Bodies

The Presidents’ Council is the ultimate decision-making body of the consortium. The objectives of the Presidents’ Council are to ensure that the activities are aligned with the joint mission statement of the alliance and the strategic plan derived from it.

The Steering Committee serves as the bridge between strategy and action within the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance. It translates the decisions of the Presidents’ Council into concrete measures and ensures that the Alliance’s vision is put into practice. In this role, the Committee sets priorities, oversees progress, and makes sure that activities remain aligned with the Alliance’s long-term goals. By coordinating with the Work Packages and monitoring their results, the Steering Committee helps guarantee that projects are carried out effectively and efficiently.

The Management Team, headed by the Secretary General, ensures coordination between strategic decision-making at the Steering Committee level and the project’s operational execution. It is responsible for the practical execution of strategic plans, ensuring that all tasks and activities are implemented effectively and efficiently. The Management Team provides regular feedback to the Steering Committee, reporting on progress, identifying challenges and proposing solutions to ensure that the project remains aligned with its objectives.

The Student Council is composed of representatives from each partner university and elects two delegates to serve as voting members of the Steering Committee. Its primary role is advisory: to provide context-specific perspectives from across the nine national and ten regional cultures of the Alliance. In addition, the Council raises awareness of the opportunities offered by the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance and encourages engagement within the student communities.

The PhD Council is composed of representatives from each partner university and elects one delegate and one deputy delegate to serve as voting members of the Steering Committee. Its primary role is advisory: to support the development of research-based joint educational formats and to expand opportunities for doctoral candidates, including exchange programmes and knowledge sharing. In addition, the Council helps to raise awareness of these opportunities and encourages active engagement within the doctoral community across the Alliance.

The Academic Council is composed of representatives from each partner university and elects one delegate and one deputy delegate to serve as voting members of the Steering Committee. Its primary role is advisory: to contribute to the development of research-based joint educational formats and to create opportunities for academic staff, including exchange programmes and knowledge sharing. In addition, the Council helps promote these opportunities and encourages engagement within the academic community across the Alliance.

The Administrative Council is composed of representatives from each partner university and elects one delegate and one deputy delegate to serve as voting members of the Steering Committee. Its primary role is advisory: to support the development of opportunities for administrative staff, including exchange programmes, knowledge sharing, and the creation of structural synergies. In addition, the Council works to promote these opportunities and encourages engagement within the administrative community across the Alliance.

The Regional Councils meet in regional chapters for each of the full member institutions. Each comprises representatives of associated partners, municipalities, NGOs and other civil society stakeholders active in the respective region. The Regional Councils aid in strategy development and advise the institutions on their work in the Alliance, in particular with respect to the Work Packages in which associated partners are involved and in regard to the functioning of the regional hubs.
