On December 9, 2025 the BAUHAUS4EU annual UniBg Regional Workshop, titled “Co-design of future educational offerings: territorial challenges and education innovation priorities”, took place at the Intellimech Consortium, within the Kilometro Rosso Innovation District. The event was organized by the University of Bergamo as part of the BAUHAUS4EU European Universities Alliance.
The workshop offered a valuable opportunity for dialogue and exchange with local partners and stakeholders, including the Municipality of Bergamo, the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce, ANCI Lombardia, Confindustria, Kilometro Rosso, Intellimech Consortium, SACBO S.p.A., Fondazione MIA, and the Politecnico delle Arti.
Discussions highlighted a shared and pressing need to accelerate digitalisation, alongside the importance of making organisational and production processes more efficient in order to increase overall productivity. Participants underlined the necessity of involving companies more systematically in university education pathways, strengthening the link between academia and the business sector throughout the design and delivery of educational programmes.
A key focus of the workshop was the need to better align educational offerings with companies’ real needs and vice versa, both in terms of required professional profiles and the structure of learning pathways. This alignment is essential to effectively address the existing skills gap: on the one hand, the competencies demanded by enterprises, and on the other, the educational and training routes that guide students in making informed and strategic choices for their future careers.
The discussion also addressed the importance of improving working environments and enhancing companies’ capacity to offer attractive organisational models for young people entering the labour market. Particular attention was given to intergenerational attractiveness, seen as a crucial factor in fostering talent retention and sustainable workforce development.
Finally, the workshop emphasised the role of managerialisation as a strategic lever for territorial development. This involves not only strengthening managerial skills among students, but also identifying effective ways to transfer and disseminate these competencies across the territory, ensuring a broader impact beyond the university context.
Through this collaborative and participatory approach, the BAUHAUS4EU Regional Workshop reaffirmed the Alliance’s commitment to building innovative, inclusive, and territorially rooted educational models, capable of responding to current and future challenges at both local and European levels.
