The BAUHAUS4EU alliance, funded by the European Union, was officially launched in January 2025. Comprising 10 partner universities, this transnatioal initiative aims to promote innovation in teaching formats and strengthen the internationalization of higher education in Europe. Through this collaboration, the alliance members aim to create a solid academic network capable of addressing global challenges while offering unique opportunities for exchanges and partnerships.
From March 11 to 13, 2025, approximately 70 participants from across Europe will gather in Weimar, hosted by Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, for the official kick-off meeting of the BAUHAUS4EU project. This event will mark the concrete launch of this ambitious collaboration, providing an opportunity for the partners to establish the foundations for successful cooperation in the years to come.
Meeting objectives
During the kick-off meeting, the alliance members will have the chance to meet, interact, and build strong connections as they work together on concrete action plans for the months ahead. A key focus of this initial phase will be the development of innovative teaching formats designed to enhance the academic experience and make higher education more accessible and flexible. One of the primary challenges will be coordinating these new teaching formats across the different universities, taking into account the diversity of educational systems, as well as the varied needs of students and administrative staff throughout Europe.
Strengthening collaboration and new initiatives
This kick-off meeting will also serve as a pivotal moment for launching several new collaborative initiatives. Among these are short-term exchange programs that will provide participants with valuable international experience. Additionally, joint degree programs will be created and implemented in collaboration between several of the alliance’s universities.
The BAUAHAUS4EU alliance aspires to become a model for academic cooperation on a European scale. The members hope to establish a dynamic « laboratory of ideas », where cultural exchanges and pedagogical innovations will push the boundaries of higher education across Europe.
The kick-off meeting in Weimar will be a defining moment in the realization of the vision, laying the groundwork for future initiatives and launching the first projects that will shape the future of European higher education.
